More and more people are becoming concerned with the issue of excess belly fat. In America especially, there are an abundance of people who carry their weight right in the waistline. In many instances there are people with slim arms and legs who still carry extra weight right in the belly. And many of these people try and try unsuccessfully to eliminate their extra weight. Maximized Living Doctor Dan Pompa provides some insight into belly fat and provides some pointers as to what you can do to get rid of extra weight carried in the belly.
First off, if you have excess belly fat, it is due to your eating habits. When weight starts accumulating in the belly, it is not only a sign that you need to adjust your eating habits, but one of the earliest signs of obesity, diabetes and even heart disease. So if you are beginning to carry weight in your belly it is a good time to make some adjustments in your life.
More than anything else, adjusting your diet will lead to a slimmer waistline. There are all too many people who spend hours doing crunches and sit ups trying to drop a pant size without changing any of their eating habits. While the crunches may develop abdominal muscles, they will not be nearly as effective in slimming you down as changing the way you eat.
Our bodies store energy in fat cells and this is kept right in our bellies. This excess fat is accumulated mostly from sugars and starches so switching from processed foods to whole wheat foods will make a huge difference in the amount of fat we store in our bellies. So before you set out to do a thousand sit ups, try a week or two without white breads, rice and pasta.
Maximized Living Doctor Dan Pompa is not saying that exercise is not part of the equation to losing belly fat. However, exercise is most effective when coupled with healthy eating.
